Errol Milner Clifford 2006-2009

Errol Milner Clifford was born with a significant heart defect and a cognitive disability that prevented him from walking or talking. As we grieved the child we had anticipated, Errol’s full-bodied smile and irrepressible laugh turned our sorrow into joy, and taught us that many of the best things in life are unexpected. Inspired by Errol’s delightful spirit, friends, family, and neighbors rallied to support our family’s significant emotional, physical, and financial needs, through countless acts of selfless generosity. When Errol’s courageous heart finally failed him on December 23, 2009 we were left numb with grief. In these dark hours we listen hopefully for the echoes of Errol’s brilliant laugh. This blog is the story (starting from present and working back to Errol's birth) of the life and times of the amazing Errol Clifford.

Postponed Surgery

Hold the phone. Errol's pacemaker surgery has been postponed until...???
Errol's blood is doing funky things and they can't risk surgery until his blood behaves or he might bleed to death! Some very, very, very, smart people up here in the PCICU can not explain why Errol's blood has gone all wonky, so hematology (vampire) doctors are going to come look at him today and will hopefully figure out what Errol is up to. CURVEBALL strikes again. Once Errol's blood is back in the acceptable range we will head back to surgery but that won't be any time soon. We miss Errol so much, he's right here in front of me, but he's more doped up than Keith Richards and we haven't seen his smile in a week. We'll update you when we figure out what's going on with Errol's blood and when we get our rescheduled surgery time.

errrrrgh. thank goodness doctors are so smart. hang in there. we're all thinking of you. guess errol shouldn't have had that last glass of champagne last night. fingers crossed for a quick fix on the blood and a successful pacemaker install!!

that second glass of champagne will get you every time.

do you know the real reason the federal government is closed today? it's not the 16 inches of snow. it's because everyone is home thinking of the little man. errol's business is the nation's business.

I can visualize a synchronous heart and I can visualize dry lungs, but I'll have to work on visualizing blood behaving properly. I'll be working on my technique today... (and I'll be sending love to the family)

thinking of you lots lately. I've done lots of "dances" in my life...I like to think the rain dance, snow dance, love dance, and fun dance all worked for me. Chaucer and I will try to get together a blood dance and let you know how it goes. Unfortunately, I'm thinking I'm out of shape for this b/c it will most likely require alot of blood moving up and down and around. xoxox
