Errol Milner Clifford 2006-2009

Errol Milner Clifford was born with a significant heart defect and a cognitive disability that prevented him from walking or talking. As we grieved the child we had anticipated, Errol’s full-bodied smile and irrepressible laugh turned our sorrow into joy, and taught us that many of the best things in life are unexpected. Inspired by Errol’s delightful spirit, friends, family, and neighbors rallied to support our family’s significant emotional, physical, and financial needs, through countless acts of selfless generosity. When Errol’s courageous heart finally failed him on December 23, 2009 we were left numb with grief. In these dark hours we listen hopefully for the echoes of Errol’s brilliant laugh. This blog is the story (starting from present and working back to Errol's birth) of the life and times of the amazing Errol Clifford.

Good News: The Chest Tube Is In

Errol's procedure is done! The chest tube is in, the fluid is coming out, and Errol will be going home in a few days. The good news is that the fluid is clear (probably no infection), the bad news is that this may happen again (this is a somewhat common consequence of Errol's last surgery).

The Pediatric Cardiac PICU nurses fell in love with Errol. When the nurses administered his versed (sedative) our little drug addict just laughed and laughed. The whole room fell for Errol.

Errol is a sweet and funny boy and we're happy that he's on the road to recovery.

Hi Guys,

We feel so much for you Jonathan and Cary right now. Victor spent a whole week at Brenner's last year almost around this time and part of it in the PICU. He too had to have surgery to clean up his lungs. We then spent my entire week of spring break again in the hospital in intermediate care, just a breath away from the PICU. But things have been better since then and I pray that little Errol will get better and that this unfortunate times will soon be in the past. We look forward to that and to seeing you soon.
